Lead Manager on INFRONT (Impact Investing in Frontier Markets), a blended-finance initiative in partnership with three private organizations and the Government of Canada.
As Co-Chair for CAFIID (Canadian Forum for Impact Investment and Development) Majid coordinates efforts between impact investing practitioners in Canada to synergize efforts towards developing the II industry in Canada. Prior to MEDA, Majid worked in impact investing and international development for organizations such as Acumen and The Aman Foundation. Majid holds a B.A. in English and Economics and MBET from the University of Waterloo.
Impact Investing in Frontier Markets (INFRONT) is an innovative public-private partnership between three Canadian organizations and the Government of Canada for sustainable development in frontier and emerging markets. The goal of INFRONT is that 5,050,000 women and men in emerging / frontier markets have access to products and services delivered more effectively and by more socially responsive firms. Over 4.5 years, project activities will be directed at investment funds, fund managers and SMEs spanning Asia, Africa and Latin America. Led by MEDA, and in partnership with Sarona Asset Management and the MaRS Centre for Impact Investing, INFRONT is comprised of two key components: 1) Investment: The Sarona Frontier Markets Fund 2 LP (SFMF 2 LP), a fund of $150 millio investing in up to 18 local funds and approximately 130 SMES and 2) Technical Assistance Facility. Made up of three components: The Sustainability Innovation Grant Fund, Global Fund Manager Mentorship Program and Impact Measurement.
