Alejandro Gómez is currently the Coordinator of the Global Network of Export-Import Banks and Development Finance Institutions (G-NEXID), a Geneva-based association of public and semi-public banks located in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Middle-East and Latin America. G-NEXID was created in 2006 with the support of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. It promotes South-South trade, investment and cooperation. As major providers of development finance, the members of the Network play a major role in addressing the financing gap in agriculture, including through blended finance.
Mr. Gómez has more than 6 years of professional experience coordinating NGOs and trade-related training programmes. Furthermore, he served as Trade Officer for the Office for Trade Negotiations of the CARICOM Secretariat for 4 years, covering the World Trade Organization, notably agriculture negotiations.
