Mr Samuel Loum is the Director (Credit Assessment) at the African Export-Import Bank (“Afreximbank”). He joined Afreximbank in 1998 and currently heads the Credit Assessment Department of the bank. His duties include reviewing of the bank’s credit policies and procedures as well as undertaking other credit issues related to the operational activities of the Bank. He also supervises the day-to-day assessment of applications received by Afreximbank for loans and other credit facilities.
Prior to joining Afreximbank, he worked at the External Operations Department of the Bank of Uganda for 16 years. He initially handled Trade Finance activities and foreign exchange services. Later, Mr. Loum was among the team of officials which set up the program for managing the foreign currency reserves held by the Bank of Uganda on behalf of the government. He has over 29 years of banking experience, mainly in the field of international banking and credit analysis.
Mr. Loum holds a BA (Hons) degree from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda and an MBA degree from Glasgow University, Scotland.
Mr. Loum has attended several international banking and finance courses and acted as a resource person on many Trade Finance courses.
